The Nature of Poetry (July 10 – July 14)
The word “ecology,” comes from the Greek word, iokos, meaning house. Ecology is the study of our home. In "The Nature of Poetry," participants will observe and record our natural home, finding the poetry in the world around us. In addition to reading and writing poetry, we will explore, discover, and create pocket-pals, fairy dwellings, drawings of natural objects, and use all our senses to connect with nature through artistic expression and imagination. A week of field trips with a poetry focus will yield artful journals filled with creative experiments from which poems, and our minds, will grow. Snacks will be provided, but students should bring a bag lunch.
